Our Role In The Building Industry
Our
primary role is to provide services/support for our members and to
promote and uphold high standards of workmanship, integrity and ethics
in the Building industry. In addition the TBA is represented on various
Tasmanian Building Industry reference groups. We are actively involved
with peak industry organisations, the TBCITB and the state Government
Department of Justice concerning formulation of policy and regulation
of industry issues.
We work closely with Tasmanian Work
Place Standards (Dept of Justice) and can assist with issues regarding
your Builder Accreditation (licensing) and Occupational Health &
Safety responsibilities.
Annual Fee
Fees are set annually. We do not seek any financial information from you for membership purposes. Membership is based on a flat fee, not related to turnover.
Training & CPD
The TBA facilitates CPD through several options to earn 12 points (the equivalent of 12 hours) each year, including:
- A
(Dept of Justice approved) correspondence programme allowing
professional development with minimum disruption to your daily work.
Available on an annual fee basis, this very straightforward self paced
programme can be completed at home. CPD by correspondence aims to
simplify annual CPD obligations and is a good option for Building
Practitioners in remote areas
- Trade nights, general
industry training and information update sessions are run on a regular
basis. Specific training/short courses are arranged as demand requires.
With
your approval we record and report your CPD points and activities to
the Registrar of Building Practitioner Accreditation on your behalf.
